Compare these two electric cars

With our electric vehicle comparison tool you can compare the :

Tesla vs BYD: the clash of the giants

The brands Tesla and BYD are market leaders in electric cars. In fact, Tesla will have over 18% of the electric car market in 2022, closely followed by BYD with 12.7% according to Statista.

The questions we're asking are: "How can Chinese Chinese electric car manufacturers have succeeded on the international stage in just a few years?" or "To what extent is BYD able to overshadow Elon Musk?

Over the past few decades, China has succeeded in asserting itself on the international stage thanks to :

  • an ambitious government strategy: the Chinese government has taken steps to support the development of the electric car industry, notably by subsidizing the purchase of electric cars and investing in R&D.
  • a large domestic market China is the world's leading automotive market, and the market for electric cars.
  • competitive production costs: China has a low-cost labor force and an integrated supply chain, enabling Chinese automakers to produce electric cars at lower costs than their international competitors.

To illustrate these words in figures:

  • In 2022China will have sold more than 3.5 million electric carsin other words, more than the rest of the world combined (despite their limited presence in European markets, in this case France).
  • By the end of 2023China is expected to account for over 50% of global sales of electric cars.

For a more telling example, here are the countries where the most battery-electric vehicles have been sold (in thousands) over the past 10 years.

BYD therefore has every intention of conquering the European market, as demonstrated by the launch of its new model, the BYD Seal. The latter is the first competitor to the new Tesla Model 3, for a number of reasons.

Both electric vehicles offer high performance, large load capacity and sufficient range for long journeys. Naturally, there are significant differences between the two, which we'll explain in a moment.

Byd Seal versus Tesla 3

The two market leaders in electric vehicles recently unveiled their latest models: the BYD Seal and the Tesla Model 3.

What are the similarities between the Byd Seal and the Tesla 3?

At first glance, these two models belong to the category of electric sedanspositioned between SUVs and city cars. Like the Tesla Model 3, the BYD Seal has 4 doors and a trunk (not a hatchback).

These two models are distinguished by sophisticated materials of undeniable elegance and finesse. Indeed, the BYD Seal and the Tesla Model 3 share a number of similarities:

  • The design The design: a clean, minimalist design with no frills. Combining sportiness and comfort, these vehicles will be your perfect allies on business trips.

As a reminder, as a professional, you are eligible for the ecological bonusbonus conversion bonusas well as regional grants for electric cars and a tax breaks for electric vehicles !

If you deduct only the ecological bonus from the price of an electric vehicle, amounting to €3,000 for professionals, you could buy the Tesla Model 3 for €38,900 instead of €41,900, a reduction of -7.16%.

Ecological bonus 2024: key points to remember

In view of the latest news concerning the environmental bonus 2024, a number of changes are as of December 15!

To briefly put things into context, the government allocated an ecological bonus to all electric cars costing less than €47,000regardless of manufacturing location. However, in view of the growing number of vehicles produced in Asia, such as Tesla and Chinese manufacturers like BYD, the bonus will be granted according to the carbon impact of the vehicle's production in 2024.. This carbon impact will be calculated by an "environmental score" based on the CO2 emissions generated during production, including battery and transport.

The official list of eligible cars will not be published until December. But don't wait! Vehicles ordered up to December 15 and delivered within three months will still benefit from the old bonus.. (Note that Tesla and BYD are both eligible).

As you might expect, leasing for these electric sedans is available on our website Beev.cosite, with no down payment and no increased first rent.

Tesla Model 3 or BYD Seal: which to choose?

Here we outline the different reasons to buy these two electric sedans, depending on your needs.

BYD Seal: the high-performance competitor

The BYD SealThe BYD Seal, inspired by the maritime world, could be a good way of acquiring an electric car. Shenzhen-based BYD has 20 years' unrivalled expertise in electric batteries. As proof, the Asian giant supplied Tesla with its Model Y. Based on this premise, the batteries used in BYD models models would be more optimal for ensuring the longevity of its electric vehicle.

To put it more broadly, this brand of electric cars would be an interesting one to acquire for several reasons:

  • BYD is one of the world's electric vehicle manufacturers the most affordable on the market, taking the ranges as a whole, enabling professionals to amortize their costs.
  • The Chinese brand offers a wide range of electric vehicles, from SUVs to sedans and city cars. The result is a diversified range, enabling customers to find the electric vehicle that best suits their needs and budget.
