All the incentives for buying an electric car in 2024

A recent government announcement specified a reduction in the amount of the environmental bonus for certain French taxpayers, particularly those in the five highest income brackets. This reduction translates into a drop in assistance for the purchase of new electric cars, from €5,000 to €4,000 for these taxpayers.

For less well-off households, on the other hand, the amount of assistance remains unchanged, with a bonus maintained at €7,000. It should be noted that the limit of reference tax income per unit, used as a criterion of distinction, has been adjusted upwards, from €14,089 to €15,400.

Electric car subsidies for businesses in 2024

As of February 13, 2024, the ecological bonus for professionals has been abolished entirely, dropping abruptly from €3,000 to €0.

However, the conversion bonus remains available to professionals, with a ceiling of €1,500 for cars complying with the eco-score introduced in conjunction with the bonus from 2024. For commercial vehicles, it offers incentives ranging from €4,000 to €8,000 depending on their size, subject to the scrapping of a polluting vehicle.

Companies also benefit from an exemption from the Taxe sur les Véhicules de Sociétés (TVS) when they acquire an electric vehicle, as well as for certain plug-in hybrid vehicles (if their emissions are less than 50 g/km of CO2).

A number of cities and regions offer local grants to help professionals renew their vehicle fleets. These include Paris, Lyon, Grenoble, Saint-Étienne, Pays de la Loire and Normandy.

In addition, the Advenir program program can help finance the installation of the installation of charging stationswhether for staff or customers.

However, it is still possible to benefit from a €2,000 subsidy for a lease (LOA or LLD) for a minimum of 48 months. In addition, the conversion bonus remains in force for the purchase of used vehicles with lower pollution levels.
