À propos de la marque Hyundai

L’homme derrière la marque Hyundai, Chung Ju-Yung (1915-2001), a marqué l’histoire de son pays. Fils de paysans, il quitte sa famille à 16 ans et fonde, à 32 ans, une entreprise nommée Hyundai Engineering and Construction qui se spécialise dans l’entretien automobile et la construction lourde. Il sera alors amené à réaliser une grande autoroute dans son pays, en plus d’œuvrer en construction navale, un champ d’expertise reconnu des Coréens. Plusieurs entreprises, comme la Hyundai Electronics, sont ainsi nées au fil des ans pour supporter le développement très large de Hyundai dans différents domaines. La marque automobile Hyundai Motors, quant à elle, amorce ses activités en 1967 (l’année de l’amour et de l’Expo…). Six ans plus tard, la première voiture 100 % coréenne voit le jour : la PONY. Plus d’une quarantaine de modèles Hyundai ont été développés depuis, dont les plus importants sont l’Accent, la Matrix, l’Elantra, la Sonata et la Tiburon. En 1998, le constructeur fait l’acquisition de son rival Kia, apportant du même coup beaucoup de qualité aux voitures de cette marque. Les deux géants Coréens sont aujourd'hui à la pointe de la technologie en terme de voitures électriques avec des modèles très performants et efficaces.
