An electric vehicle is a car that runs on electricity rather than fossil fuels such as petrol or diesel. The electric vehicle contains a large battery that powers everything from the car's movement to the stereo system. Electric vehicles are "charged" via the electricity grid or public charging stations. There are trucks, SUVs, compacts, city cars and electric sports cars. The automotive industry is rapidly bringing electric vehicle models to market in response to growing demand.

The price of an electric vehicle is often higher than that of gasoline-powered cars, but industrial mass production will reduce it over time. Fuel savings are often enough to justify the higher purchase price. Many car brands are launching electric vehicles. In France, the most popular are Renault, Peugeot, Volkswagen and Kia.

Charging stations

Most electric vehicle owners recharge their batteries at home. This can be done inside your garage or outside, taking appropriate safety precautions. When you buy an electric vehicle, it sometimes comes with a charging cable that can be plugged into a conventional electrical socket. This allows you to recharge it overnight.

However, in certain cases, we recommend that you install a charging station at home. Even before buying an electric vehicle, we recommend that you call in a certified electrician to check the connections and plugs.
