The 2023 ecological bonus downgraded
In July 2022, this ecological bonus was extended until December 31, 2022 to continue encouraging the purchase of electric cars. However, following a recent statement by Bruno Le Maire, the French Minister for the Economy, announced that the ecological bonus would be reduced in 2023.. Originally scheduled for the second half of 2022, we were lucky to be able to take advantage of this reduction.
As a reminder, in 2022, the ecological bonus will be capped at €6,000 for cars with a list price of less than €47,000. You can find more details in this table :

The 2023 ecological bonus will therefore be capped at €5,000 for cars up to €47,000. The ceiling for cars between €47,000 and €60,000, initially set at €2,000, will disappear completely in 2023.
Ecological bonus 2023 limited to certain vehicles?
You may not know it, but the United States also offers an ecological bonus to its citizens, but for some months now, this has been reserved for vehicles manufactured on American soil. The aim is to make local industry a priority. Bruno Le Maire seems to like the idea, as he has said he is open to the idea.
The ecological bonus could therefore be reserved for electric cars manufactured in France, but also in Europe. Good to know, given that Citroën produces very few of its cars in France, as does Peugeot which produces its e-208 electric car in Spain.
In practical terms, this means that if you want to buy electric cars like the Dacia Springone of the most affordable cars on the market, you'll have to say goodbye to this bonus. However, the door is not yet closed to the purchase of a Teslawhich produces Model Y at its Gigafactory in Germany since March 2022.
The decision has not yet been taken, but we hope that it will not be too restrictive for people wishing to make their ecological transition.
Conversion bonus in 2023: what will change?
The conversion bonus will also be reduced. As with the ecological bonus, we have learned from the website économie.gouv that we're losing €1,000 on the current scale. This conversion bonus will therefore be between €1,500 and €4,000, depending on your situation and the car you wish to scrap and the one you wish to recover.
