As a reminder, Waze is a community navigation application. It provides up-to-date, real-time information on road conditions and traffic to help users get from A to B more quickly.
It also offers features such as voice guidanceguidance suggested detours or alternative routesautomatic automatic rerouting based on live traffic data and the ability to share traffic alerts and accidents with other drivers. So, from now on, without using a smartphone, the driver has access to real-time traffic information, favorite routes and saved destinations on the eye-level screen.
The first brand to take the plunge
Renault becomes the first electric car brand in Europe and the rest of the world to offer Waze as part of its infotainment system. One of the advantages, and not the least, is that you can the ability to leave the vehicle's music oneven when Waze is activated.
The application remains fully functional and usable by the driver at all times. This eliminates the need for USB cables or smartphone connectivity, which is often impractical. The Waze application offers many advantages, including reduced journey times and fuel consumptionand providing information on nearby points of interest. With the integration of Waze into Renault vehicles, drivers can now enjoy the convenience of using Waze only through the vehicle's infotainment system. This is sure to provide a more enjoyable and stress-free driving experience.
Accessibility made easy by Google Play
This new experience with Waze is available in European countries for all Austral and Mégane E-Tech electric customers. Mégane E-Tech electric customers equipped with the OpenR display and OpenR Link interface with integrated Google. The Waze application for Mégane e-Tech can be downloaded and installed from Google Play or from the My Renault mobile application.
Customers can use an existing account or create a new one to enjoy all the features offered by the application free of charge. Currently, the OpenR Link multimedia system also includes integrated Google functions such as Google Maps and Google Assistant. Renault had previously stated that its OpenR Link system supports numerous applications developed by third-party developers on Google Play.
