Electric cars: background
Electric cars are becoming increasingly popular. They are pleasant to drive, extremely quiet, emit no CO2 and cost far less to run than their combustion counterparts.
Recharging infrastructures are becoming increasingly widespread throughout the country, and electric cars have longer ranges. All these factors make electric cars a serious ecological and economic alternative to combustion-powered vehicles. Many nurses have already taken the plunge!
If you're thinking of buying an electric car in the near future, we've put together a guide to help you make the right choice.
Electric cars are a real boon for the self-employed for a number of reasons.
- More economical charging: €2/100km, on average 80% cheaper than a petrol vehicle
- Tax advantages for the self-employed
- Support for the installation of charging stations at home or at work
- Free parking in several French cities
- Substantial assistance (ecological bonus, conversion premium and regional aid)
- Vehicles for frequent stops
Up to €17,000 in aid for nurses
As a self-employed professional, you can benefit from a wide range of grants for the purchase of an electric vehicle.
- Ecological bonus Depending on whether you are a private individual or a company, the bonus ranges from €5,000 to €7,000. All the electric cars in this ranking are eligible for the ecological bonus.
- Conversion bonus Depending on whether you are a private individual or a company, you can save up to €5,000 on your next purchase.
- Regional grants In certain towns or regions, you may be entitled to additional grants of up to €6,000 from your municipality or region.
Tax benefits
In addition to these aids when buying your electric car, you can also benefit from tax advantages. In fact, electric vehicles are tax-advantaged for companies:
- 30,000 amortization
- No tax on the use of passenger cars for business purposes (company car tax)
- Total or partial exemption from vehicle registration fees
Don't hesitate to read our special report on taxation of the liberal professions for more information.
If you don't drive much
If you don't drive much, we recommend electric city or compact cars. They're usually more than enough for your rounds, and will save you a lot of money.
