Nice charging point: Install your own charging point

How to install charging point vary according to the location of the work to be carried out. There are 4 types of installation, described below.

In the house

In co-ownership

For companies

In public establishments

To put it simply: safety and efficiency.

We often make the analogy of mobile phones to electric vehicles that need to be charged every day. It depends on your driving habits. If you don't drive much, you won't need to charge your car every day. If you drive a lot, your electric car will need to be recharged almost daily.

In both cases, you are strongly advised to equip yourself with a charging point

The network of public recharging points is fairly extensive at NiceBut if you want peace of mind, it pays to install a charging point at home or at work. That way, you won't have to keep going to public charging points on a random basis.

The advantages of installing an individual terminal

  • Ecological
  • Economic
  • Technical

What's more, businesses and shops that are well equipped with charging stations attract more customers by providing them with this extra convenience. In turn, they prolong the time spent by visitors in these places.

They also make everyday life easier for their employees, who no longer have to worry about recharging their vehicles.

The different types of recharging: What type of charging point should you choose?

So you've decided to install a recharging point? Congratulations! Now all you have to do is choose the charging point that suits your needs.

The type of refill you choose will depend on the integrated battery to your electric vehicle. Vehicles equipped with a larger battery, with a longer range, will logically require more charging time.

Next, the power of the charging point you choose will play a key role in the success of the recharge time. We're talking about :

  • Slow charge - 3 kW
  • Normal load - 7 kW
  • Accelerated charge - 22 kW

Good to know: Charges of more than 50 kW, fast charging, are only installed on motorways.

For charging at home or at the workplace, we recommend installing these two charging facilities:

  • The wall socket : Allows enhanced recharging compared with a conventional domestic socket. The WallBoxIt can be wall-mounted in your garage, for example. This type of charging provides a slow charge power of 3 kW, lasting from 8 hours to 13 hours.
  • The charging point : Allows higher-power recharging, which can be installed in your private car park, and is also very effective if you share the charging point with other people. It offers a slow charge of 7 kW (single-phase installation), then 9 kW to 22 kW (three-phase installation), for a charge lasting between 5 and 7 hours.

How do I choose the right recharging point installer in Nice?

The following criteria must be taken into account when choosing an installer:

  • Certified professionals (IRVE) : The installer who installs your charging point must be certified (IRVE certification) to ensure that the installation is carried out properly and to avoid any problems. This is a sine qua non condition for receiving certain types of aid, but also for your insurer (given the changes that will take place at your home or place of work).
  • Compliance with installation regulations : As with any work on your home, the installation of a charging point is subject to standards and requirements that must be respected. If this is not the case, not only will the warranty on the device be invalidated in the event of a problem, but you will probably have problems with your bollard.
  • A responsive and available company: When you make a purchase like this, it's normal to have questions. A legitimate company will not only have plenty of information available on its website, but will also be able to answer any questions you may have. If a company dodges questions and answers only that it knows what it's doing... run, it's probably not certified to do the job.
  • Demonstrate transparency: Related to the previous point, you'll know you're dealing with a good company if it's transparent. In other words, they explain the process to you from A to Z, from quotation to installation to after-sales service. The company will provide you with all the details of your purchase as well as its warranty, and will be on hand in the event of any post-installation problems.
