The major networks of charging points are making it as easy as possible to access public charging points. Paris City Council has announced that from May 2021, The new Belib network will gradually replace the entire current network of charging stations. This transition will improve the operation of the network of pay stations throughout Paris. To join, you can register at belib.paris.
However, 80 % of electric vehicle users now prefer to install their own recharging point. They prefer to do this at home or at work, so that they can recharge their vehicle safely and comfortably on a daily basis.

Reinforced EPZs
Since the rise in popularity of the electric vehicle, the introduction of Low Emission Zones (ZFE) is increasingly reinforced. Set up in 2015 in cities most inclined to polluteThese restrictions will be further tightened in 2017, and again in 2019, to the point where access will be denied to categorised vehicles. The restriction of these two categories will come into force on the date of 1st June 2021, with regard to Paris region.
What's more, the Climate and Resilience Act of 22 August 2021 transferred the powers and prerogatives relating to the Low Emission Zone to the President of the Greater Paris Metropolitan Area.
Le 1er July 2022The Council of the Greater Paris Metropolitan Area adopted a resolution postponing the next stage of the low-emission zone by one year, until 1 January 2010.er July 2023.
In 2024, these regulations will be affected by a number of changes:
- Postponement of the Crit'Air 3 stage: Initially, the traffic restriction for Crit air 3 vehicles was planned, but this stage has been postponed to 1 January 2025 by the French government. Greater Paris Metropolitan Council in July 2023. This decision was taken on the basis of a number of conditions, including the introduction by the government of a guaranteed interest-free loan and an automated enforcement system.
- Zero diesel targetParis: There was a target of achieving zero diesel in Paris by 1 January 2024. However, according to Le Monde, this objective cannot be achieved as originally planned.
- Fines for offendersParis - From the second half of 2024, violators of the EPZ rules will be liable to a class 3 fine of up to €68, according to the French Minister for Ecological Transition, Christophe Béchu.
- Restrictions postponed until 2025Certain restrictions on polluting vehicles have been postponed until the beginning of 2025, as the metropolitan authority felt it was impossible to introduce a ban any earlier.

The most recent consultations took place on 10 July 2023 at the Ministerial Committee on Urban Air Quality.

The EPZ is intended to be strengthened over time. For example, the City of Paris and the Greater Paris region have included targets for 2023, 2024 and 2030 in their respective climate-air-energy plans:
- Restriction to Crit air 3 vehicles in 2023 ;
- Restriction of traffic to Crit'air 2 vehicles (i.e. diesel vehicles in particular) from 1 January 2009.er As of January 2024, there will be no more Parisians exposed to exceedances of European limit values;
- 100% of clean vehicles by 2030 and compliance with WHO guide values for all pollutants.
Free parking
Priority is now being given to clean mobility.
To encourage the use of electric vehicles, in the Paris region and in some French towns, parking is totally free. For residents and visitors to the city alike. Provided, of course, that you own a clean vehicle or one that emits less than 60g of CO2 per kilometre.
