On average, "each of our rapid charging stations is used five times a day, for a charging time of 105 minutes", says Bordeaux Métropole. Bordeaux is also equipped with 213 slow-charging stations. These are located in some of the city's public parking lots (Metpark, UrbisPark, etc.) and park-and-ride facilities. There is also a network of charging stations in parking lots for shops, hotels and businesses that cater to the public.

The conversion bonus is government assistance for all French people to buy a new, less-polluting diesel, petrol, electric or rechargeable hybrid vehicle, whether used or new.

Documents required for private individuals

The documents you need to apply for a credit or a LOA/LLD for your electric car:

  • A copy of your last three pay slips. If you are retired or self-employed, you will be asked for your last one or two tax notices.
  • A copy of your valid identity card or passport.
  • Proof of address less than 3 months old. This can be a gas, electricity or telephone bill (even a cell phone bill), a rent receipt or a title deed.
    A bank details form (RIB).
  • A signed and completed cheque for the amount of the first rent on your schedule. Payment of the first rent will only be made upon receipt of the vehicle.

How do you calculate your debt ratio?

The debt ratio must not exceed 33% of net household income. In other words, a banker will only accept your application if you can prove that your fixed expenses do not exceed 33% of your net income.

Parking your electric car in Bordeaux

In Bordeaux, electric vehicles can park free of charge for 1.5 hours, using the green disc available for clean vehicles and therefore necessarily for electric vehicles. This green disc has been available since 2008, thanks to the Association des Voitures Écologiques (AVE). To obtain it, you'll need to present proof of address to the municipal services, for a fee of €3 per year. 

The Bordeaux metropolitan authority and MetPark are offering a 50% discount on season tickets and a 30% discount on hourly rates for certain underground parking lots. These discounts apply to individual season ticket holders and hourly users.
