Definition - Zero emission
Emits no pollutants.
The "zero emission" principle encompasses all vehicles that emit zero levels of pollutant gases. Electric cars are zero emission vehicles.
Zero net emissions
The term net zero emissions means that all greenhouse gas emissions produced by human activity must be removed from the atmosphere using abatement measures in order to achieve the Earth's net climate balance, i.e. after deduction of natural and artificial CO₂ reductions.
"Eliminate fossil fuel emissions in the second half of the century." That's the net zero emissions target
The 2050s should mark the beginning for some countries in achieving this goal.
The European Union, Japan and the Republic of Korea, along with more than 110 other countries, are among those that will meet this target by 2050. China says it will do so before 2060.
