The electric sedan is an emblematic automotive body style, divided into two distinct categories. The first is the hatchback, or compact sedan, which has a silhouette with an indentation in the windshield.
On the other hand, there are also the much larger three-box models. Three-body models are distinguished by the much greater space allotted to the hood, passenger compartment and trunk.
The strength of sedans lies in the volume of luggage and passenger space available. That's why three-box models are so popular in the automotive market, especially with professionals who need to cover a lot of miles.
With its sturdy bodywork, the sedan has become one of the most popular vehicles for travel, thanks to its attractive, safe silhouette. On the other hand, the advantages of the sedan lie in the comfort of the cabin, its roadholding and the high level of connectivity provided by automakers.
Why buy an electric vehicle?
Electric sedans are primarily designed to reduce CO2 emissions. They also address other issues that motorists may encounter:
- A more economical recharge price: €2/100km, i.e. on average 70% cheaper than a petrol vehicle.
- Recharging solutions available in town, sometimes free of charge
- Help to install home charging stations
- Free parking in several French cities
The best electric sedans of 2022 range from family sedans to compacts. What's more, their prices are in the same range as those of combustion-powered cars.
