A revolution is underway?
Applications such as ChargeMap, Kiwhi and many more
other applications offer a list of available recharging points in France and elsewhere in the world. Automakers are also getting involved, as with Tesla have a feature that guides the driver to the nearest Supercharger station.
In 2024, the landscape of charging infrastructures for electric vehicles has evolved considerably. With over 300,000 charging stations available across Europe, the aim is to increase this figure to 7 million by 2030 to meet growing demand. (Beev). Apple goes EV routing
Since autumn 2023, Apple Maps has integrated new features for electric vehicle users. Under iOS 17, the app now offers real-time updated mapping of available charging stations, and is collaborating with several automakers to improve integration and compatibility. This evolution not only makes it easy to find charging stations, but also to plan journeys taking into account the availability and status of charging stations, contributing to a wider and more efficient adoption of electric vehicles.
Find charging stations easily
In addition to the vehicle model and the type of charging system used, the software will also take other factors into account to suggest one charging point over another.
Depending on the weather and even altitude (cold can affect a vehicle's vehicleautonomy ), Maps will choose to give priority to terminals that are closer or further away.
As many cities around the world have zones restricted to certain categories of vehicle, the software will also take these into account and, if necessary, suggest alternative routes. Of course, the software will also allow you to find the nearest kiosk, without necessarily calculating the route to get there.
And there will be no jealousy! For cyclists, Maps will also feature a dedicated mode for finding bike paths.
Now that you know all about the new iOS 14 update, all we have to do is wait before we can take advantage of this new tool, which will no doubt be of great use to many people. Stay tuned!
