It's all set! Your future car will be electric. But you don't know which one to choose. Before you take the plunge, let's take a look at what's coming soon to the automotive market. Let's take a look at the electric cars planned for 2020, so you can make an informed choice. To find an electric car in 2020, click here.

Sales of electric cars in France have soared by 46% since the start of 2019, and there's no end in sight. While China remains the world's leading market, France is not to be outdone, with theaim of selling over a million electric vehicles by 2022

With the release of new electric cars such as the Peugeot 208 electric and the Volkswagen ID.3, the range is expanding and demand is growing.

But do you have to wait until 2020 to take the plunge, or is the current offer enough for you?

➡️ READ OUR DOSSIER - Electric car buying guide: choosing the right model

In France, 2019 saw a number of new models enter the electric car market. The arrival of the Tesla Model 3 has changed the game, but the best-selling models in Europe remain the Renault Zoé and Nissan Leaf. While the new Nissan Leaf e+ will arrive at the end of 2019, the new Renault ZOE ZE50 is scheduled for early 2020.

Here's a summary of electric car releases for 2020. We'll start with the most eagerly awaited French models, before looking at what international manufacturers have in store for us next year.

Our ranking of electric cars in 2020

Our ranking of electric cars in 2020

The prices indicated are catalog prices and do not include bonuses and purchase aids. As a reminder, in France, the purchase of a vehicle is accompanied by an ecological bonus of €7,000. If you are replacing your old vehicle, you can also benefit from a conversion bonus of up to €5,000.

One of the most important points -range. This is indicated with the WLTP (Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedures) when it is approved. Otherwise, it is preceded by the word "estimated", which is placed before the technical data. The WLTP standard is a test cycle for vehicles: it indicates their fuel consumption and range. Unlike the NEDC cycle previously used, WLTP is very close to reality. For example, a ZOE ZE40 with a claimed range of 400 km in the NEDC has a range of 300 km in the WLTP, which is much closer to reality.

Technical data

In a nutshell

2020 will be a small revolution for the electric vehicle market. References are multiplying and almost all manufacturers have at least one electric vehicle in their range. Affordable models are starting to appear, such as the Volkswagen e-Up!, SEAT Mii and Skoda CITIGOe iV for less than €20,000 bonus deducted, and long-range models are on the increase. Electric cars have long remained unaffordable for the average French household, but a real democratization is taking place.

While long-distance journeys used to be the preserve of Tesla models, more and more vehicles are coming onto the market with equivalent, if not superior, performance. The deployment of fast-charging networks like those of IONITYFastned and IZIVIA, combined with the arrival of ever more efficient models, opens the door to mass adoption of electric vehicles in France in 2020. There's no longer any question of waiting for your electric vehicle to recharge - in many cases, it'll be done before you even get back from your coffee break.

Living with an electric vehicle has never been easier. The range of existing and future models is no longer a constraint. You can now take to the road with peace of mind.
