The advantages of electric vans

It goes without saying that delivering online purchases to consumers and professionals, or supplying businesses throughout France are an important pillar of tomorrow's mobility. Urban delivery is therefore closely linked to professional electric vehicles. For a company, having a fleet of electric commercial vehicles seems an interesting compromise. What's more, it offers advantages for the company.

Insurance for the future of all-electricity

In Europe, and particularly in France more and more cities are restricting access to their downtown areas for a variety of reasons. Indeed ZFE (low-emission zones), now known as ZCR (restricted traffic zones), have been introduced in recent years. The objective remains the same: to keep the most polluting vehicles out of city centers, particularly in large conurbations such as Paris.

When a company decides to equip its fleet with electric commercial vehicles, it can be sure of continued access to all areas of a city. This also applies during peak air pollution periods, since traffic restrictions do not apply to low-emission electric commercial vehicles. A key argument for companies to bear in mind when making their ecological transition and building up or renewing their fleet.

Attractive tax benefits

In 2023, in France, a company can benefit from the conversion bonus and the ecological bonus for the purchase of low-polluting vehicles, including electric commercial vehicles, under certain conditions.

The conversion bonus encourages the acquisition of low-polluting vehicles by offering financial assistance. Eligibility conditions depend on the legal entity's income, the type of vehicle to be replaced and the new vehicle acquired. In the case of a company wishing to acquire an electric commercial vehicle, the conversion premium can cover up to 80% of the acquisition cost, with a maximum of €6,000.

In addition to the conversion bonus, an ecological bonus is also awarded for the purchase of new electric, hydrogen or hybrid vehicles. The amount of the bonus depends on the motorization and purchase price of the vehicle, with a maximum bonus varying between €3,000 and €5,000 for cars. Electric commercial vehicles can benefit from a bonus of up to €6,000.

To benefit from the conversion bonus and the ecological bonus, you can apply online on the official website and submit a file via the online teleservice.

When replacing an old commercial vehicle Crit'Air 3 or older vehicle (diesel first registered before 2011 or petrol first registered before 2006). This bonus allows you to up to 2 500 € for individuals with a taxable income per unit of €22,983 or less, including those with a taxable income per unit of €14,089 or less and travel distances of less than 30 km. This applies to the purchase of a new or used Crit'Air 1 electric, hydrogen or hybrid vehicle..

The ADVENIR program, run byAvere-France, provides funding for the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles. This program aims to support electric mobility by offering subsidies forcharging infrastructure in collective buildings, businesses and public entities.

For companies in particular, several subsidies are available, depending on the type of project. The amount of the ADVENIR grant in 2023 varies between 20% and 50% of costs, with specific ceilings for each category.

For charging stations in private parking lots, a subsidy is available with ceilings of up to €9,000, depending on the type of charging station.

Type of charging station Percentage of subsidy Subsidy ceiling
30 %
From €1,000 to €1,300
Direct current (DC)
30 %
From €2,700 to €9,000

Companies can now receive financial assistance for fleet and employee charging stations. The "benefits in kind" program, which enables employers to provide electric vehicles and charging stations or cover associated expenses for employees, has been extended until December 31, 2024.

To benefit from these subsidies, it is necessary to use qualified installers who are registered with ADVENIR. The process involves signing the grant offer, carrying out the installation work and submitting the necessary documents. Final approval and payment of the grant are subject to program requirements and specifications.

Lower total cost of ownership for electric vans

The electric cars don't have timing belts, oil tanks or even filters to replace.
The
electric batteries naturally require less maintenance than an internal combustion engine. Batteries can be charged at work, at home, on vacation or even in parking lots at a rate per kW (kilowatt), making the price per 100 km much lower than that of conventional combustion vehicles. This total is an estimate of the total cost of car ownership over a given period (in this case 5 years).

It takes into account several parameters, including capitalcapital depreciation (approximately 40% of TCO), fuel fuel (approx. 20%), insurance (approx. 10-15%), vehicle maintenance (approx. 5-10%), and depreciation (40%) as well as administrative and tax expenses. The total cost of ownership (Total Cost of Ownership) is therefore significantly lower and more attractive for electric commercial vehicles than their diesel counterparts.

No more parking problems downtown

No more parking fines! Some of France's major cities, such as Nice, Aix-en-Provence or simply Paris, are going one step further than just allowing full access to their city centers. In fact, they they offer totally free parking for the least polluting vehicles, i.e. electric vehicles!

In fact, parking spaces are reserved for them with a charging station that allows them to recharge the vehicle battery free of charge. to recharge the vehicle's battery free of charge.. A huge financial advantage for companies. This means one less charge and, above all, no more worrying about finding a fine on your windscreen if delivery or supply has ended up taking longer than expected.

It's also worth noting that not all cities offer free parking. This is the case for Bordeaux, Cannes or even Orléans which provides drivers with free green discs green discs. These small colored discs allow vehicles emitting less than 120g CO2/km to benefit from two hours' free parking. Bordeaux also offers free recharging for electric cars!

A wide and diversified range of electric vans

Today, for urban delivery, car manufacturers vehicle manufacturers are increasingly offering electric electric utility models at a range of prices and adapted to the needs of companies. Such is the case of Renaultwith its Kangoo E-Techthe German brand Volkswagen and its E-Crafter or even Opel with its Vivaro-e. Vehicles that are becoming increasingly intelligent, modular, connected and performance with a view to simplifying everyday gestures and making driving even easier.

Some innovations have already been integrated into electric vans such as AI (artificial intelligence), as in the case of the Volkswagen e-Crafter or the Fiat e-Ducato. Both models are now available at long-term rental and medium-term leasing at Beev. In particular, they enable us to calculate the shelf life of each parcel, taking into account the type of product, its destination and its circulation conditions. The electric vans are also becoming increasingly autonomous. The Peugeot e-Traveller for its part offers a range of 330 km. This is good news for companies whose lack of range lack of range was one of the main obstacles to the electrification of their vehicle fleets.

Safety is also a key consideration when buying an electric car. This is all the more true for electric vans that transport highly sensitive goods such as foodstuffs. For this reason, they are fitted with safety systems such as the Side Wind Assist (a stabilizing process that acts on the brakes to prevent the truck from rolling away).
The
Surround Rear Vision is also present, improving visibility by offering a set of rear-view cameras forming a wide-angle image projected onto the rearview mirror. The carmaker Renault has already equipped its two electric vans with this system: the Kangoo Van-E-Tech and the Kangoo ZE.
